Fat and Beautiful

~Womensselfesteem.com's Relationship Blog~..
.. brings you a rare guest post~

The author of this post goes by the name of Unikorna. She brings Unique content to her readers through her blog, ' Why I Wake up Every Day'. This article in-particular caught my eye as so many of today's issues for women are connected to whether or not size matters. And no...I am not referring to men here...I am referring to how women today feel about their bodies. Many women battle this concern especially when they are in a relationship. As we are all aware of, once we have a partner, we will without a doubt eventually be sharing our most intimate thoughts and unclothed bodies. The issue of a womens body size does eventually begin to be an issue. Women begin to want the lights off more and more and/or even tend to wear clothing to bed. Once again, I point the finger at the media's idealism of the perfect body type. A message to both men and women... choose the partner that you love and that most suits who you are. Body size should only matter when it becomes a health issue. If you are a true loving partner, then your first responsibility to your relationship is to take care of yourself in body and mind.
~The photos in this article are not meant to offend anyone, they are merely meant to show the beauty in the natural curves of a woman ~
~Below are thoughts by Unikorna~

Ever since I was a little girl I was fascinated by old movies and their lovely breathtaking classic beauties with their curvy hips and tiny waists strangled in tight corsets. In my idea women are supposed to look feminine, whatever that might imply. That is why I was so shockingly impressed of how beautiful a plus size woman can be, if she makes an effort and shakes away all the inhibitions.

I know from painful personal experience that 3 rows of bellies can hardly be hidden under a nice sexy dress, but there are certain outfits that can flatter any kind of figure. However I should mention that I cannot agree with a woman being resignedly content with her size, and only because it is horribly unhealthy.

Eating everything you want, whenever you want can have tremendous effects on your well being(that I know from personal experience) . Sitting on your couch watching tv all day can't be healthy either.Eat whatever you want, but also move your ass a little, do some exercise...

Nevertheless nothing can excuse modern world's obsession with being skinny, far too skinny and thus ostracizing all the women above size 10. Most of these women, in my opinion, are far more appealing than the starving models we see on the catwalks.
And my boyfriend agrees with me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is not an issue that will disappear unless men and women realize and understand the true meaning of reality and ones natural gift in being the UNIQUE person they were meant to be~
~Many thanks to Unikorna for sharing her thoughts with my readers~
What lovely pictures! And I have to agree with you...full curves are SO much nicer looking than skin stretched tight over jutting collarbones, hips, and ribs! And (being a plus-size woman myself) I ask men all the time what their preference is and it's 99% "a little meat on their bones"!!!
It is always refreshing to again that curvy women are desirable. In our culture people are trying to be 100 pounds to feel good. When I get down on myself I turn to music to be my escape and this guy named Ryan Dishen really helps me rise above. He really makes me feel good inside. www.ryandishen.com is his site and I recommend every girl listen. It helps. Thanks for every Dorothy
Thanks :)
Growing up in the Twiggy 60's and struggling with my weight (I thought I was overweight then!), I have always been attracted to anything that raises the consciousness of weight issues and beauty.
I like that you don't throw in the towel and say, be happy being fat. It is unhealthy--no doubt. And unwieldy. And after a certain point, you just don't feel good anymore, I mean physically.
I think it is important not to be in denial if you are seriously overweight and justify obesity.
However--I wholeheartedly agree that our society, generally, has gone off the deep end with waifs and freak body types that show the skeleton. Soooo unattractive.
I have also taken a personal poll of men and asked the question about what they prefer. ALL said they liked "something to grab onto", "some meat", roundness, etc.
I think the psychology of humanity tends to enjoy exaggeration. Why are we so adverse to "normal" or "average"?
I loved the pictures, BTW.
Thanks for this article. I will be following your blog.
How wonderful to see these great pictures. My husband saw the top one and said, oh I like that, and when I said, that's a big lady, he said, is it? He hadn't noticed her size, just her sexiness. Interesting huh?
Great post and I couldn't agree with you more as a fan of the fuller woman. I say to all the ladies men love curves what we don't like is lack of confidence. Be proud and confident at any size men will respond.
This is an excellent article. I agree being too much overweight is not good, of course, but just being a normal weight with a little extra is perfect. The extremely, painfully thin women on the covers of mags and on the catwalk, this is an awful example for our daughters. It is painful to see young girls think they are not beautiful because some "designer" said so. Thank you for this article. Blessings, Catherine xo
I hate the thought that some women starve themselves to the bones to be skinny. Women have different body structures or body frames. We should be thankful of what we are.
Yes, but I'd still rather be skinny. My kids have orders that if I'm ever on life support, they may not pull the plug until I'm a size six.
Today I woke up and looked in the mirror like I always do and thought to myself, "I'm fat." I seldom look at my large stomach and think "beautiful" or "sexy" but after reading this fabulous post I feel a little empowered and like I could be as beautiful as one of those girls in the photos. Thank you so much for posting this!
I enjoyed reading this post. Only thing I'd take issue is, that while the women in the photos aren't skinny, none of them would be really classed as fat.
I was actually just talking about that earlier! I think it is SO much more attractive to have some meat on the bones rather than looking like you need one SERIOUS cheeseburger!
Wow - those pictures are truly stunning!
But I wonder why I felt such a need to make a comment.. It is so sad so see how media, and the society I live in in general, has affected me so much, that I feel the need to support anyone who look a bit different! It angers me that I don't find it 'normal'.
How on earth did it come to this?
And what on earth can we do to stop the search for the 'perfect' life in the 'perfect' body?
Glad to see this. Body image squeezes the vitality out of so many young women.
This article sure is belonging to the real world.. what we see at catwalks is far to difficult to achieve in ordinary life.. because it needs hours and hours of workout at the gym and eating nothing.. but if you truly want to enjoy life, there's no problem in having some meat on your body.. but only a little!! by the way these pictures seem far more real and nice then those skinny models on the catwalk!!
I recently posted an article similar to this on my blog about weight and body image. It is true we are far less active because of automation, and comfort.
We seem to judge on sight instead of virtue. I prefer someone healthy and happy, no matter what the physical size. I just worry about long term health with holding Ono extra weight. I recently dropped 20 lbs(6 months of work to do it) but feel better, my knees, feet and back don't hurt any longer. Love the repost. Wonderful site, you have been bookmarked.
I understand the issue, and do not want to seem insensitive, but the girls in these pictures are beautiful models with a few extra pounds... they are far from what I would call "fat". There are many people packing a great more body weight than these gals are. Of course, the "Twiggy" thing is unrealistic and unhealthy, but the other end of the issue should be a major concern. Diabetes, joint issues, etc. are becoming a standard way of life.
If one looks out on the street, as opposed to a glossy fashion magazine, they will see far more obesity than "skinny".
As a guy, there are enough "six pack" photos and "fireman" calendars out there to mess with my body image too, but I know I will never look like that and I keep my shirt on. Having said that, so much can change with diet and exercise, it can be a miracle.
You have to stand in front of the mirror, naked, and be honest with yourself. If you do not like what you see, move more and eat less. Keep it up and you will start to feel wonderful.
All the best... Peter
